Evaluation of Insecticidal effect and energy allocation of energy biomarkers of the pine
processionary moth (Thaumetopoea pityocampa) Schiff. under the effect of three essential
oils formulated (Thymus pallescens Noé., Artemisia herba alba Asso and Pinus halepensis
Mill.)
The pine processionary moth, (Thaumetopoea pityocampa Schiff.) the most important defoliator of pines in the
Mediterranean region. Chemical pesticides are considered as effective solutions but the problems of the resistance
of insects and their adaptive capabilities cause by the massive use of this chemical pesticides, which necessity to
find new alternative product natural of plant origin against this insect’s attacks. Essential oils are the most products
currently tested. This study showed on one hand the toxicity of three essential oils extracted of Thymus pallescens
Noé., Artemisia herba alba Asso and Pinus halepensis Mill. on the L2 and L3 larvae of the processionary caterpillar
Aleppo pine (Thaumetopoea pityocampa Schiff.) In order to search for new bioactive natural products, on the other
hand we realize a dosage series of energy reserves in order to know the response of the processionary Caterpillar
against this stress condition cause by those essential oils. The results obtained showed Differentiated efficacy of
the three essential oils on both L2 and L3, cette efficiency is estimated by the mortality of their invidious in addition,
this mortality Increase proportionally with the rise of the Dose and exposure time. The results revealed that
essential oils of thyme is the most efficacies effective against oil all of the population of both L2 and L3. The study
on energy reserves has showed the prevalence of the fats as a biomarker, because is considering as the most
responsive biological parameters, to use it for the reproduction process. |
