Résumé:
Abstract
This study examined and analyzed the contemporary Saudi Arabian novel, represented by the novel "Al-Nihayat" (The Endings) by Abdulrahman Munif, from various angles, including characters, timelines, the anthology of places. The Saudi novel went through a difficult stage until its emergence. This stage was characterized by stagnation and the adoption of the conservative authority which characterized writings in this Arab region. As soon as the features of modernity and the influence of the West began to appear, those pens intervened, abandoning their conservatism, and turned to diagnose and depict the Saudi reality in all its contradictions, struggles, and complex existential issues. One of the central issues addressed in this work is the government's negligence in developing and uplifting the desert regions and the suffering of their inhabitants from thirst, inadequate services, and the lack of communication with other provinces of the Kingdom. The novelist portrayed and conveyed this with professionalism.
