Abstract It is undoubtful that character plays a major role in the whole architecture of a novel, regarding dialogue, actions, place and time. This fact encourages us to focus on this element (character) in our research and tries to understand how the character manifests and its connotations as well as its relationship to the production of the textual context in the novels of Ibrahim Al-Koni. To do so, we divided our theses into a theoretical approach and four practical chapters: The theoretical approach discussed the general perception of the concepts of structure, character, tragedy, and tragedic character, The first chapter is devoted to tackle mechanisms of building the tragedic character in Ibrahim Al-Kony’s novels. We have talked about. Ways of introducing tragedic character The nature of proper name, Types of tragedic character, The second chapter highlighted manifestations of the tragedic character in Ibrahim Al-Kony’s novels, and we raised the points of: The law in Ibrahim Al-Kony’s novels, The sacred and the profane in Ibrahim Al-Kony’s novels, Sin and atonement in Ibrahim Al-Kony’s novels, The third chapter is about the relation of the tragedic character to time and place, The last chapter has studied the formations of language and the construction of the tragic discourse, by referring to: the actor and the formulas of presenting the speech, Description and the tragedic character, The perspective of the novel and tragedic character, The study concluded that the events of the novels, that had a tragedic nature, were all around the desertic law that played a crucial role in determining the fates of tragedic persons. The novelist aim was to praise the desertic nature and instill and fix its beliefs. Key words: structure, character, tragedy, novel. Résumé Il ne fait aucun doute que le personnage joue un rôle majeur dans toute l'architecture d'un roman, concernant le dialogue, les actions, le lieu et le temps. Ce fait nous incite à nous concentrer sur cet élément (personnage) dans nos recherches et tente de comprendre comment le personnage se manifeste et ses connotations ainsi que sa relation à la production du contexte textuel dans les romans d'Ibrahim Al-Koni. Pour ce faire, nous avons divisé nos thèses en une approche théorique et en quatre chapitres pratiques: L'approche théorique a discuté de la perception générale des concepts de structure, de caractère, de tragédie et de caractère tragique, Le premier chapitre est consacré aux mécanismes de construction du tragique. personnage dans les romans d'Ibrahim Al-Kony.
