Abstract : Intertextuality is a complex linguistic phenomenon whose distinction is based on the recipient’s culture and extensive knowledge, in addition to the fact that it represents one of the basic signs and characteristics of literary creativity. This research attempts to clarify the statements on the term intertextuality, relying on the opinions of the founders of this concept from the Arabs and the West, while trying to link this modern concept and its ancient uses in Arab criticism, exploring the diverse and backward culture of the novelist Emil Habibi, and the impact of this culture on his “optimistic” literary creativity and clarifying textual relationships.
