Abstract : This study examines the temporal structure within John Steinbeck's novel "The Pearl" as a quintessential example of American narrative technique. Steinbeck's work exemplifies a meticulous use of temporal sequencing, which enhances both the development of the novel progression and character development. The novel's temporal framework oscillates between past and present, adding depth to the narrative complexity and enriching its details. Furthermore, temporal elements serve as a mechanism to underscore the internal conflicts of the characters and demonstrate the influence of temporal circumstances on their life paths.
