The present study investigates students' attitudes towards using French as a medium of instruction in scientific fields. Besides , it is intended to identify the origin of the failure of students of Biology department and causes of deficiencies, and to determine their real needs in order to help them to overcome this problem. To achieve our objective, first year students of Biology department of Mohamed El Bachir El Ibrahimi, have been taken as a sample. For the sake of this investigation, we adopted the descriptive method to gather the data through administering an online questionnaire to 44 students and the data were analyzed by Excel. The results reached in this study demonstrate that the majority of the students did not use the French language in their daily lives and they did not attempt to improve their French skills and master it by taking courses which led to the difficulties that they encounter especially in their learning process, some of those difficulties concerns the vocabulary, pronunciation ...etc
