This work is mainly devoted to the study of the oxidative and hemolytic effect, manganese dioxide (MnO2) and Manganite (MnOOH), recovered from new salt cells and used batteries. Then the study was expanded to potential antioxidant and anti-hemolytic, leaf extracts from two medicinal plants (Juniperus oxycedrus and Globularia alypum), and enhancing the amount of their phenolic compounds. In addition, anti-hemolytic tests were performed and accommodated on healthy human red blood cells. The total phenol content of water extract is significantly important for Juniperus oxycedrus than for Globularia alypum, with values of the order of 99.90 ±7.43mg EAG/g and 60.13 ± 13.09mg EAG/g respectively. The study of antioxidant and anti-hemolytic activity was carried out, by contact of human red blood cells, of two types of plants, then the blood cells were exposed to manganese dioxide and manganite and followed by hypo-osmotic stress. The results showed that manganite, from the discharged battery, is more effective than manganese dioxide, from the new battery, whether it is in terms of lowering in the number of red blood cells, as well as for the reduction of hemoglobin concentration. Subsequently, both extracts appear to be more effective than ascorbic acid, which showed rather prooxidation activity.en_US
