Abstract

Law 22-18 on the Promotion of Investment in Algeria includes a set of incentive systems aimed at attracting local and foreign investment. The law establishes three main systems: the general system, the priority zones system, and the major projects system of a strategic nature. The incentives include tax and customs exemptions, and real estate facilities related to granting concessions on industrial property. It also grants additional advantages to projects that create jobs or are implemented in the High Plateaus and southern regions. The law provides administrative support through a one-stop shop to facilitate procedures and reduce timescales. It aims to improve the business climate and diversify the economy beyond the hydrocarbons sector. These systems are a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development in Algeria.
