    Exploring Teachers Corrective Feedback in IELTS Essays Preparation The Case of Silver Tongue private school BBA

    تستكشف هذه الدراسة الملاحظات التصحيحية التي يقدمها المعلمون على كتابات الطلاب لمقالات اختبار الآيلتس، وذلك باستخدام نهج مختلط الأساليب. شارك في الدراسة عشرة (10) طلابًا في المستوى المتوسط يستعدون لاختبار الآيلتس وأربعة معلمين تمت مقابلتهم من خلال مقابلة شبه منظمة. يهدف البحث إلى استكشاف قدرة المعلمين على تقديم ملاحظات تصحيحية لتحسين كفاءة كتابة الطلاب في الاستعداد وتحقيق درجة أعلى. تم جمع البيانات من خلال الطرق الكمية (قائمة معايير التقييم) والطرق النوعية (المقابلة شبه المنظمة). تشير نتائج البحث إلى أن ملاحظات المعلمين عززت بشكل ملحوظ كفاءة كتابة الطلاب، مما أدى إلى تنسيق موحد مع عدد أقل من الأخطاء. وأكد المعلمون الذين تمت مقابلتهم النتائج الإيجابية لتقديم الملاحظات مع التأكيد على الدور المحوري في تطوير كتابة الطلاب لاختبار تحضير الآيلتس. يجب أن تستخدم الدراسات المستقبلية تصاميم تجريبية محكومة، وتعدادات طلابية متنوعة، وملاحظات تفصيلية للطلاب، وعينات أكبر، واستراتيجيات لتحسين كتابة مقال الآيلتس. ABSTRACT This study explores the corrective feedback that teachers provide on students' writing of IELTS essays, using a mixed-methods approach. Ten (10) intermediate level students preparing for the IELTS test and four teachers who were interviewed through a semi-structured interview participated in the study. The research aims to explore teachers' ability to provide corrective feedback to improve students' writing proficiency in preparing and achieving a higher grade. Data were collected through quantitative methods (list of evaluation criteria) and qualitative methods (semi-structured interview). Research findings indicate that teachers' feedback significantly enhanced students' writing proficiency, resulting in uniform formatting with fewer errors. The interviewed teachers confirmed the positive results of providing feedback while emphasizing the pivotal role in developing students’ writing for the IELTS preparation test. Future studies should use controlled experimental designs, diverse student populations, detailed student observations, larger samples, and strategies to improve IELTS essay writing

    An Exploration of Algerian PhD Graduate Returnees’ Integration of Intercultural Competence (IC) Into Their Teaching Practices

    من قبل خريجي الدكتوراه الجزائريين العائدين. وعلى وجه التحديد، فإنه يسعى إلى اكتساب نظرة ثاقبة حول كيفية إدراك هؤلاء الخريجين العائدين للتعاون الدولي وكيف يؤثر على ممارساتهم التعليمية. ونظرًا لأهمية التعاون الدولي في تعزيز التواصل الفعال في عالم معولم، فإن هذا البحث يحمل أهمية خاصة في سياق النظام التعليمي في الجزائر، والذي خضع مؤخرًا لإصلاحات تهدف إلى تعزيز تعلم اللغة الإنجليزية. تم استخدام نهج بحثي مختلط الأساليب، يتضمن جمع البيانات الكمية والنوعية من خلال استبيانات تم إجراؤها على 11 مشاركًا ومقابلات أجريت مع ستة مشاركين. وقد تم تحليل البيانات باستخدام التحليل الموضوعي والإحصائي من أجل التعرف على تصورات العائدين من الدراسات العليا نحو IC، والاستراتيجيات التي يستخدمونها لدمجها في تدريسهم، والتحديات التي يواجهونها وتوصياتهم. تكشف النتائج أنه بينما يعترف العائدون من الدراسات العليا بأهمية التعاون الدولي، فإن تنفيذه يختلف بشكل كبير بناءً على الخبرات الفردية والدعم المؤسسي. تسلط الدراسة الضوء على عدة نقاط حاسمة: ضرورة التطوير المهني المستمر الذي يركز على التعاون الدولي، وأهمية إنشاء بيئة مؤسسية داعمة، والحاجة إلى تطوير مواد المناهج الدراسية التي تعكس وجهات نظر ثقافية متنوعة. على الرغم من مواجهة تحديات مثل الموارد المحدودة والمقاومة من الطلاب والزملاء، يسعى الخريجون العائدون إلى إنشاء فصل دراسي شامل ومستجيب ثقافيًا. يساهم هذا البحث في فهم الكفاءة بين الثقافات في تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية في الجزائر ويقدم توصيات للمعلمين وصانعي السياسات وأصحاب المصلحة لتعزيز تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية من خلال دمج IC. يوصى بإجراء المزيد من الدراسات لاستكشاف التأثير طويل المدى لهذه الممارسات على إتقان اللغة والوعي الثقافي لدى الطلاب. المصطلحات الأساسية: الكفاءة بين الثقافات، خريجو الدكتوراه الجزائريون العائدون، الوعي الثقافي. Abstract This study explores the incorporation of intercultural competence (IC) in English Language Teaching (ELT) practices by Algerian PhD graduate returnees. Specifically, it seeks to gain insight into how these graduate returnees perceive IC and how it influences their teaching practices. Given the significance of IC in promoting effective communication in a globalised world, this research holds particular relevance in the context of Algeria's educational system, which has recently undergone reforms aimed at enhancing English language learning. A mixed-methods research approach was employed, involving the collection of both quantitative and qualitative data through questionnaires administered to 11 respondents and interviews conducted with six participants. The data was analysed using thematic and statistical analysis in order to identify thegraduate returnees' perceptions towards IC, the strategies they employ to incorporate it in their teaching, the challenges they face and their recommendations. The findings reveal that whilegraduate returnees acknowledge the importance of IC, its implementation varies significantly based on individual experiences and institutional support. The study highlights several crucial points: the necessity for ongoing professional development focused on IC, the significance of establishing a supportive institutional environment, and the need to develop curriculum materials that reflect diverse cultural perspectives. Despite encountering challenges such as limited resources and resistance from students and colleagues, the graduate returnees strive to create an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom. This research contributes to the understanding of intercultural competence in ELT in Algeria and provides recommendations for educators, policymakers, and stakeholders to enhance English language education through the integration of IC. Further studies are recommended to explore the long-term impact of these practices on students' language proficiency and cultural awareness.     Investigating Algerian EFL Primary School Teacher’s Teaching Experiences:

    Abstract Teaching English in the early stages has become crucial due to its global importance. The Algerian government made the decision to imply teaching English at primary school as a school subject. This study aimed to identify the challenges, obstacles, and most crucial problems faced by Algerian EFL primary school teachers. In addition, the study explores the possible solutions that could help EFL primary school teachers keep going in the teaching profession with passion and overcome the different challenges. The researchers used qualitative and quantitative research methods (mixed method). In order to collect data and to answer the research questions, an online questionnaire was administered to EFL primary school teachers selected randomly from different parts of Algeria. The results show that Algerian EFL primary school teachers faced many different challenges inside the classroom, outside the classroom. To ensure that pupils benefit from learning English, the study’s findings recommend that English instruction in primary schools must be enhanced and reevaluated. Keywords:

    Exploring Teachers’s and Students’ Perceptions on Guided Essay Writing Instructions The Case of Third Year University Students at Mohammed El Bachir El Ibrahimi.

    Life is a leading process and without unambiguous directions, there cannot be a path to follow. In this regard, our research is about to understand how teacher-guided instructions affects students essay writing in Third Year License in English language Department at Bordj Bou Arreridj University. The main aim of this study is to investigate the influence of teacher guided-instructions on students writing essays from the perspectives of both teachers and students. It will contribute to a deeper comprehension of instructional strategies in this academic setting already have a certain skill or piece of information, it is assumed that they will acquire it through some type of interaction or process in class to implement in writing essays. The research process was anchored in a mix method approach, incorporating both questionnaire and interview. A large sample of 75 students of third year students and 4 teachers contributed their experiences. The findings show that teacher guidance has a range of effects on students' writing essays, including organization, coherence, the use of information and topic knowledge. The analysis emphasizes the significance of instructor feedback, instructional strategies, and student perspectives in determining writing development. The study provides subtle insights into effective pedagogical strategies for essay writing training, which has important implications for instructors seeking to improve their students' writing essays.     The Suitablility of the Third-Year Primary School English Textbook to the Algerian Learners : the Case of Primary School Learner at the City of Bouira

    This study explores the critical issue of the suitability of English textbooks to primary School learners in Algeria. The quality of English textbooks plays a pivotal role in shaping students' language proficiency and cognitive development during their formative years. This investigation employs a mixed method approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection tools, including interviews, textbook evaluation checklist, and learner’s profile forms. The study evaluates the alignment of the textbook with the curriculum standards, their readability, cultural relevance, and pedagogical effectiveness. Furthermore, it investigates the perceptions of teachers and students regarding the appropriateness of this particular textbook. Preliminary findings suggest that while English textbooks have improved over the years, there remains a need for ongoing assessment and adaptation to better cater to the diverse learning needs of primary school learners. This research provides valuable insights for educational authorities, curriculum developers, and educators to enhance the suitability of English language textbooks in the primary school level, ultimately leading to a more effective English language learning environment.     Une bonne compréhension de l'écrit permet aux apprenants d'analyser et de comprendre s les informations présentées dans les textes, ce qui est crucial pour leur réussite scolaire. En identifiant les méthodes d'enseignement de la lecture les plus efficaces, cette recherche peut contribuer à améliorer la qualité de l'enseignement de la lecture et à renforcer les compétences en lecture des apprenants de 2AM.L'objectif de ce thème de recherche est d'étudier comment l'utilisation de différentes stratégies de lecture peut améliorer la compréhension de l'écrit chez les apprenants de 2AM. Il s'agit de déterminer quelles sont les stratégies les plus efficaces pour aider ces apprenants à interagir activement avec le texte, à en extraire le sens et à développer leur compréhension globale. Cette recherche vise à identifier des méthodes d'enseignement de la lecture qui permettent aux apprenants de mieux comprendre et d'analyser les textes écrits, ce qui peut contribuer à leur développement académique et à leur réussite scolaire. Enfin Cette recherche revêt une grande importance car la lecture est une compétence fondamentale pour le développement académique des apprenants. Une bonne compréhension de l'écrit leur permet d'analyser et de comprendre les informations présentées dans les textes, ce qui est essentiel pour leur réussite scolaire. By identifying the most effective teaching methods for reading, this research can contribute to improving the quality of reading instruction and strengthening the reading skills of 2AM learners. The objective of this research theme is to study how the use of different reading strategies can enhance reading comprehension among 2AM learners. It aims to determine which strategies are most effective in helping these learners actively engage with the text, extract meaning from it, and develop their overall comprehension. This research aims to identify teaching methods for reading that enable learners to better understand and analyze written texts, which can contribute to their academic development and school success. Finally, this research is of great importance as reading is a fundamental skill for learners' academic development. A good understanding of written text allows them to analyze and comprehend the information presented in texts, which is essential for their academic success.

    The Socio-cultural Factors Impact on EFL Learners’ Oral Performance Case Study: 4th Year Ms

    The present thesis is a total of three chapters aiming to investigate the socio-cultural background of 4MS pupils in speaking English. The social cultural background of the pupils is at the very core of this study and thus success factors of speaking EFL are examined from a socio-cultural vantage. The process of socialisation therefore plays a very important role in shaping the learner‟s own experience in different fields, especially in that of foreign language speaking. It starts at home and extends to later stages of life, as the individual steps out to the world of peers in the neighbourhood and at School. So in all these social institutions, the learner is exposed to a lot of experiences that might affect his or her performance either positively or negatively. First of all, at home, the family‟s economic and educational status affects the socialisation of the learner through preparing him from the early days of childhood to meet the expectations of school life. In our case, improving his oral performance mainly in English. Besides, the impact of the surrounding environment and school is primary important since it is there where young yearners pick up more and more social and cultural views that can enhance their oral performance. Through a questionnaire administered to 65 pupils, this work has been conducted. The results of this study shows that pupils living in culturally and economically impoverished environments have a bad oral performance in English. This failure is not only due to the family but also a host of factors such as the neighbourhood as well

    Theme The difficulties facing English learners in oral

    The present study aims to depict the speaking difficulties that affect EFL learners’ oral performance at Middle school , Third year students Annasser ( Bordj Bou Arreridj ) . Throughout this study we hypothesize that students encounter a number of obstacles like linguistic problems, psychological problems, or the learners’ bad attitudes towards the topic…etc. These obstacles prevent them from improving their oral skill. In order to confirm the previous hypotheses, we investigated the case of third year students at Middle school and the teachers of the English language at the same level . We have used more than one research tool; a questionnaire, an interview, and a classroom observation. The data obtained from the research tools indicate that there are some factors affect the students’ oral performance in learning English as a Foreign language . As the last step, the data suggests some techniques and activities that help students effectively to face their speaking problems, as it provides some advice for both learners and teacher for a successful oral performance in teaching and learning English

    The skills needed for the new generation make them use their technical potentials to learn how and where to search for knowledge. Current trends in teaching/ learning have advocated the use of project work (PW) as a pedagogical activity to foster 21st century students’ motivation. Project-based learning (PBL) is an instructional approach designed to meet the needs of today’s students, give students the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills through engaging projects set around challenges and problems they may face in the real world in an autonomous manner. It is also one of the student-centered approaches that have been highly recommended in the new Algerian educational reforms. Thus, the present study delves into PW and intrinsic motivation. It investigates the attitudes of Algerian students and teachers towards the use of PBL, and its role in enhancing the intrinsic motivation level of 4th year middle school (MS) students at Medjili Brothers’ MS in BBA (with some4th year MS teachers of English ) belonging to the Third District. It seeks to determine the roles teachers can perform within PBL and whether students and teachers prefer using PBL in their classrooms over teacher-centered approaches to learning. In this research, teachers’ and students’ questionnaires were used as tools to collect data and to test the hypotheses that that both teachers and students may show positive perceptions towards the use of PBL to foster the students’ intrinsic motivation. The findings revealed that 4th year MS students and teachers hold favorable attitudes on behalf of this new method (as far as the Algerian context is concerned) to boost the learning motivation, collaboration and critical thinking skills. At last, since PW is a fundamen tal aspect of learning/ teaching, we recommend that it should be undertaken through motivation, interest and encouragement to unblock the various gateways of learners’ motivation, cooperation and creative thinking.

    THE ISSUES FACING EFL MASTER’S STUDENTS IN UNDERSTANDING AND APPLYING RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

    Conducting effective research is very essential for writing a dissertation, since this latter requires a valuable set of planning and research skills. However, it is not an easy task to be accomplished, as beginners researchers, students encountered many obstacles due to the complexity of the research, which is a mix between two skills; academic writing and methodological skills. The current study examines the issues facing EFL Master two Students at Mohamed El Bashir El Ibrahimi University in understanding and conducting research process, during the academic year 2021/2022. In addition, it aims at addressing the main factors that affect the progress of the dissertation. In this descriptive inquiry, the data collection tools were two questionnaires assigned to a sample of 23 master two English students, and 7 teachers at the department of foreign languages at Bordj Bouarreridj University. The questionnaires revealed that, students have limited ability of understanding research skills .in addition students faced problems with choosing good topic for their dissertation. Furthermore, they complained about the limited time they have to write their dissertations. All of these factors have an impact on the dissertation writing process.
